The Blue Lagoon of Arghireșu

The lake is located at 30 kilometers distance from the noisy crowded Cluj-Napoca, in Arghireșu village. The Blue Lagoon is a beautiful natural lake created where it used to be a kaolin pit. The hollow pit got filled up with rainwater and the surrounding sandy soil helped the landscape so much. The lake is named ”The Blue Lagoon” because of the unusual azure like color, the white sand dunes and the green bulrush bushes.

The Lagoon is not so easy to be found because of the lack of road signs, but following the route Cluj-Napoca – Baciu – Gârbău – Arghireș Fabrici you will arrive at the destination in about 70 minutes by car.

Bánffy Castle – Bonțida

Bánffy Castle is an architectural monument located in Bonțida village. It consists of the main building, former kitchen block, stables, the mill, gate building and Miklós building (the last owner of the castle). The Renaissance ensemble needed restorations at the beginning of the 18th century. In 1999 the castle was included in the World Monuments Watch List of 100 Most Endangered Sites due to the degradation of the castle. Furthermore, Electric Castle (a music festival that takes place on the domain of the castle) is supporting the restoration process by donating money.

Turda Keys and Turda Salt Mine

Turda Keys are a natural reservation located at 37.1 kilometers distance from our location, so you will arrive at the destination in about 50-60 minutes. The surface occupied by the Turda Keys is 250 hectares with a length of 2 900 m and the walls height is up to 300 m. Turda Keys has over 1 000 species of plants and some of them are rare ones. In the area, there are over 60 small caves, stone towers, arcades and sharp increases.

Turda Salt Mine it is one of the most interesting places to visit in Cluj county. Even though the salt mine was used for exploitation, now it serves as a touristic destination. It was restored between 2008 and 2010, when an elevator was installed, but also a wheel with gondolas and a recreation space were inaugurated. Now it consists of an assembly of mine galleries and rooms. Turda Salt Mine is located at 32.7 kilometers distance from our location, so you will arrive at the destination in about 40 minutes by car.

Beliș-Fântânele Lake și Gilău Lake

Beliș-Fântânele Lake is an artificial lake located in Gilăului Mountains, at about 68 kilometers distance from our location, so you will arrive at the destination in about 100 minutes by car. The location is a beautiful space, where you can see local houses and even a road from where you can go through the forest. The view is amazing and it is a must go place!

The Gilău Lake is an artificial lake of water storage formed in 1972 following the construction of the dame. It is located at an altitude of 422.25 m with an area of about 70 hectares. There is a beautiful village where you may see the vestiges of the first roman military camp of Transylvania. In the past was used to accommodate a military settlement. The lake is located at 24.1 kilometers distance from our location and you can arrive at the destination in about 40 minutes by car.
